Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Our SEN Information Report, which forms part of Durham County Council’s Local Offer, provides details about how we support children and young people with Special Educational Needs in our school.

The SEN Information Report was reviewed and updated in February 2024.

At St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School we recognise that all pupils are entitled to a quality of provision that enables them to achieve their potential. We believe in positive intervention, removing barriers to learning, raising expectations and levels of achievement, and working in partnership with other agencies to provide a positive educational experience for all pupils, including those with SEND.

Our school recognises that there are particular groups of pupils whose circumstances require additional consideration. At St. Mary’s we have a PSA who works closely with the SENDCo and the Senior Leadership Team to support pupils with SEND.

Key SEND Documents

This SEND Information Report should be read alongside the school’s SEND Policy, Equalities Information and Objectives, and Accessibility Plan.

Full details are provided in our SEND Policy, available on the policies page.
